Hilary Richards 1949 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hilary Richards who sadly passed away last week at home after a short illness. Hilary supported his son Samuel who joined Blue Stars at the age of 12 and subsequently became involved as a Team Manager for Sportshall and Track & Field Athletics . He also sat on the club committee and fulfilled the useful role of club statistician, enabling various new awards presentations to take place.

Hilary's 'significant contribution to the running of the club' was recognised in 2023 when he was awarded the John Laker Memorial Trophy.

Having been an active athlete and boxer in his youth Hilary was a a keen follower of the progress of Blue Star athletes and will be sadly missed by all who knew and worked with him.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Samuel and his mum Sue.The funeral is on Thursday April 3rd, 11.00am at the Arun Crematorium, West Sussex.
