The Blue Stars youngsters travelled to the impressive indoor facility at Lee Valley, Enfield, for this year’s Tom Pink Relay event. The track events are all run as relays with the field events based on Sportshall type events.
The Field events produced the best results for the Club. The under 13 events saw Alina Hillicks and Maisie Walker teaming up in the Weight for Distance competition, with Hillicks throwing an impressive 16.25m to easily win the gold medal and Walker taking the silver medal with a throw of 12.00m. In the Shot event Macy Lawes took the gold medal with a throw of 7.83m, with Hillicks taking the bronze medal with 6.59m. Edward Crossman put up two excellent performances, firstly winning the Under 13 Boys Standing Long Jump with a leap of 2.32m and then sailing to victory in the Standing Triple Jump with an impressive jump of 6.80m. To add to his excellent afternoon Crossman then took a silver medal in the Weight for Distance throw where he threw 12.25m. The Highland Steps events saw Sophie Morris take the silver medal in the Under 13 Girls competition with a score of 69 and Antoine Stehle score 66 to win the bronze medal in the Under 13 Boys event. In the Under 13 Girls Standing Triple Jump Sophie Hogton leapt an impressive 6.10m to win the silver medal.
In the Under 11 Girls events Kyla Ball picked up two medals, winning the gold medal in the Weight for Distance event with a throw of 13.50m and then jumping 2.14m in the Standing Long Jump to take the silver medal. There was a bronze medal for Megan Hulcoop in the Caber toss and another bronze medal won by Ellen Pratt in the Standing Triple Jump with a leap of 5.09m. In a close fought Under 11 Boys Standing Triple Jump Theo Ramage took gold with a jump of 5.78m and Tom Hays won bronze in the Highland Steps event with a score of 65.
In the track events, several teams made the finals and the medals won came in the Under 13 Boys 1500m relay event where the team of Antoine Stehle, Dan Jackson, Edward Crossman, Luke Stables and Craig Harris took third place in 3m47.4s and the Under 11 Girls 1000m relay where the team of Megan Hulcoop, Anniya Pennington-Buck, Isabelle Brosnan, Martha Cobb, Lila Cox and Honey Thompson also finished third in 2m57.8s.
