The last of this winter’s Sportshall leagues took place at Tanbridge House School and saw both the Boys and Girls Blue Star teams finish in third places and finish 3rd overall in the league, behind the Clubs from Crawley and Brighton, but ahead of Haywards Heath and Chichester.
In the Under 15 Girls events Cleo Tomlinson again excelled, winning the Vertical Jump with a leap of 67cm and then winning the 4 lap race in 47.4s and finally being edged into second place in the Shot competition with a throw of 9.78m, with Emily Hutchinson also taking second spot with 7.43m. Also in this age group there was a double win in the Standing Long Jump, where Sophie Hogton set a new personal best with a leap of 2.28m, with team mate Maddy Way, who was competing in this older age group, winning the B event with 2.21m. These two also contested the 2 lap races, with Hogton taking second place in the A race in 22.7s, while Way won the B race in 22.6s. They both then went on the take second places in the Speed Bounce scoring 85 and 71 respectively. These four Girls then easily won the 4 x 2 lap relay running 1m29.6s.
Matt O’Dwyer threw an impressive 10.09m to win the Under 15 Boys Shot with Ed Crossman taking second place in the B string with 7.64m. Crossman and Antoine Stehle both took second places in the Standing Triple Jump with Crossman jumping 7.22m in the A event and Stehle jumping 6.34m in the B string. These two then teamed up in the 4 lap races, with Crossman taking second place in the A race (47.3s) and Stehle also finishing 2nd in the B race (52.7s).
The Under13 Girls events saw good second places achieved in the 6 lap races, where Olivia Sharpe ran 80.0s in the A race and Phoebe Penston ran 82.9s in the B race. Another second place was secured in the 4 lap race where Ella van der Veen ran 50.8s in the A race, with Holly Hudson running 51.8s to take third spot in the B race. The Shot Putt produced another two second places with Alexia Johnson throwing 6.07m in the A event and Ellen Pratt 5.83m in the B string. Hudson and Johnson had earlier contested the 2 lap races where they both took third places running 23.6s and 24.3s respectively. The Under 13 Boys Shot saw second places for Theo Ramage in the A event (7.78m) and Vlad Tikhomirov in the B string (6.84m) and in the Under 11 Boys Speed Bounce Tom Hays ran out the winner with a score of 54, whilst in the Under 11 Standing Long Jump Harry Long won the A string with a leap of 1.99m and Lex Cornish jumped 1.93m to win the B string. Long had earlier run 23.6s in the 2 lap race to take third place, with team mate Harrison Jones winning the B race in 24.1s. The Under 11 Girls events saw Lily Mae Davies finish third in the Speed Bounce with a score of 50, with Emily Olliver scoring 48 to take second place in the B event. Davies then went on to take another third place in the Standing Long Jump where she leapt 1.81m, with Temperance Cornish jumping 1.63m to take second place in the B event. Cornish had earlier taken another second place in the B race of the 2 lap sprint running 25.1s.
