The latest Southern Athletic meeting for the Blue Star Senior team saw them at Broadbridge Heath where they took on three Clubs ahead of them in the league table. A good all round team performance saw them finish in second place with just league leaders Epsom & Ewell finishing ahead of them.
The Men’s Javelin saw a double victory with Luke Johnston winning the A string with a throw of 55.17m and Elliott Bayley winning the B event with a throw of 49.83m. Calum Neil won the Pole Vault with a clearance of 3.70m and then went on to win the High Jump with a personal best leap of 1.73m, with team mate Connor Dearden clearing 1.63m to win the B string. The 110m Hurdles saw Gareth Lewis hurdle to an easy win running 18.1s. Lewis was kept busy all afternoon, taking second places in the Triple Jump (11.97m), 200m (24.0s), 400m (55.3s) and third places in the Shot (8.38m), Discus (29.06m) and Hammer (20.57m). The Women’s events saw Chloe Billingham clear 3.00m to win the Pole Vault, she then won the Discus with a throw of 23.09m and the B string Javelin with a throw of 23.54m. Molly Adams stormed to victory in the 200m, running 25.5s. In the High Jump Lucy Milnthorpe cleared 1.58m for another victory, with Ella Sharpe leaping 10.19m to win the Triple Jump with Maddy Strickland winning the B string with 9.30m.
