The Sussex Combined Events Championships took place at the David Weir Leisure Centre, Carshalton in conjunction with the Surrey Championships. The Blue Stars had the largest entry from Sussex Clubs and gained several medals.

The Under 13 Girls Pentathlon, which had an entry of 18 saw Emily Hutchinson put a tremendous performance to win the Gold medal with a score of 1972 points, she first of all leapt 3.79m in the Long Jump this was followed by a personal best in the 70m Hurdles where she ran 13.29m, she then threw 7.08m in the Shot, and then late in the day with the cold weather hampering good performances she produce another personal best of 1.44m in the High Jump and then finished off by running 3.00.37s for the 800m to clinch victory by 42 points. The Blue Stars had an impressive 8 girls competing in this event, with Macy Lawes finishing 6th (1572 points) and Sophie Hogton 7th (1522 points).

The Under 15 Girls Pentathlon saw Cleo Tomlinson pick up a silver medal with a good all round performance scoring 2512 points, with Isabelle Humphreys finishing 5th with 2403 points. Antoine Stehle took the bronze medal in the Under 15 Boys Pentathlon, scoring 1418 points, and another bronze medal was gained by Gareth Lewis in the Senior Men’s Decathlon, where over two days of gruelling competition he scored 4516 points.

The Sussex 1500m Under 17 Men’s Steeplechase Championship held over the same weekend saw Bradley Burke and Joshua Barnett take the gold and silver medals, running 4m56.34s and 5m03.43s respectively, both personal bests.
