A blisteringly hot afternoon faced the athletes at Kingston for the last fixture in this season’s UK Youth Development League for the Under 13 and Under 15 Age groups. Finishing 4th in this match secured the Club’s third overall position in the table. Scoring 472 points they finished behind, host club Kingston (506 points), Guildford (502 points) and Team Dorset (498 points), but ahead of Winchester (401 points) and Chichester (220 points).
The outstanding performances came in the Under 15 Boys High Jump where Seb Wallace and Hari Brogan not only won A and B strings with personal best clearances of 1.78m but also both broke the existing Club record which has stood since 1980. Wallace earlier had won the Long jump with a leap of 5.71m with Matt O’Dwyer taking the B event with 5.06m. Brogan had earlier won the B string Pole Vault with a clearance of 2.40m, with Dan Dearden clearing 3.50m to win the A string. O’Dwyer won the Under 15 Boys Shot with a throw of 11.83m, while there was a good run from Samuel Richards in the 1500m where he led from the start to win in a new personal best time of 4m41.0s. Jake Hogton finished second in both the Hammer (22.09m) and the Javelin (23.12m), where Hari Brogan threw 20.31m for second place in the B string.

The Under 15 Girls events saw Cleo Tomlinson win the 100m in 13.1s and the High Jump with a clearance of 1.56m. Emily Hutchinson jumped 1.40m to take the B event and the B string Shot with 8.45m, where team mate Ruby Walker was edged into second place in the A string on countback with a throw of 9.05m. Alina Hillicks won the Discus event with a good throw of 22.19m and the Javelin saw Hayley Emerson win the B string with a throw of 19.21m, with Emily Hutchinson taking third place in the A event with a throw of 20.66m.

Madeleine Way performed well in the Under 13 Girls events, winning the Long Jump with a personal best leap of 4.46m, this was sandwiched by second places in both the 150m (21.2s) and the 75m (10.8s), with Holly Hudson finishing second in the B strings of the Long Jump (3.60m) and the 75m (11.2s). The Under 13 Boys events saw Tristan Bradley have two wins in B string events, running 30.2s in the 200m and the 14.7s in the 75m Hurdles, where Seth Bond also ran 14.7s for third place in the A race. In the 4 x 100m relays there was an easy win for the Under 15 Boys team of Callum Palmer, Seb Wallace, Edward Crossman and Matt O’Dwyer, running 49.4s. The Under 15 Girls team of Sophie Hogton, Cleo Tomlinson, Emily Hutchinson and Ruby Walker finished second in 53.7s, while the Under 13 Girls team finished 3rd (57.5s) and the Under 13 Boys team were 5th
