The latest round of the Sussex Sportshall league took place at Tanbridge School and saw both Blue Star teams edged into second place by the team from Crawley, the girls by just 5 points and the Boys by 6 points. This leaves the Girls still leading the league after two matches with the boys team lying third.

The Under 15 Boys events saw a double win in the Standing Triple Jump, Seb Wallace leaping a massive 8.18m to win the A string with Tom Gilsenan-Best winning the B event with 6.97m. Wallace went on to win the Vertical Jump with a jump of 68cm. Gilsenan-Best had earlier won the 2 lap race, running 20.8s, with Matt O’Dwyer taking second place in the B race (22.0s). O’Dwyer teamed up in the Shot Putt with Adam West where they achieved a double first. O’Dwyer throwing 10.24m to win the A string and West took the B string with a putt of 9.75m. The 4 lap race saw two second places gained, with West running 45.0s in the A race and Wallace 45.2s in the B race.

In the Under 13 Boys events, the Vertical Jump provided good points, with Edward Crossman leaping 52cm to win the A event and Antoine Stehle taking the B string with 50cm. Crossman then went on to win the Standing Triple Jump with 6.90m and took a second place in the 4 lap race (48.7s), where Stehle ran 51.2s to win the B race. The Under 13 Boys 2 lap races saw Dan Jackson take third place in A race (24.8s), with Craig Harris winning the B race in 23.1s.

Cleo Tomlinson and Ella Hannyngton teamed up in the Under 15 Girls Shot Putt where they achieved a double win throwing 7.99m and 7.89m respectively. Hannyngton had earlier won the two lap race, running 22.6s, whilst Tomlinson had won the 4 lap race in 46.9s, with team mate Jessica O’Flaherty running 48.1s to win the B race. In the Standing Long Jump Tomlinson jumped 2.27m to take second place in the A event, whilst Hannyngton won the B event with a leap of 2.13m.

The Under 13 Girls Speed Bounce saw Ella Heather and Hayley Emerson team up with Heather scoring 78 for second place in the A event and Emerson winning the B string with a score of 77. In the Shot Putt Alina Hillicks and Holly Hudson both picked up second places, with throws of 6.16m and 4.85m respectively.
The Under 11 Girls events saw some very good performances with Madeleine Way and Kyla Ball winning their respective 2 lap races, Way running 23.5s to win the A race with Ball winning the B race in 24.4s. These two also won the Standing Long Jump, with Ball winning the A event with a leap of 2.11m and Way taking the B event with 2.05m. Way achieved a triple victory by taking the Speed Bounce with a score of 60.
