The last of this season’s Youth league development Fixtures for the Under 13 & Under 15 age groups took place at the Spectrum Centre in Guildford and another excellent performance from the team saw them finish in 3rd place behind Crawley and host Club Guildford, meaning that they finished 3rd overall in the league.

The Under 15 Girls provided several winners with Cleo Tomlinson and Jessica O’Flaherty teaming up in the 300m where Cleo ran an impressive 43.6s to win the A race, whilst Jessica won the B race in 44.0s. The Long Jump saw another double victory with Ruby Jerges leaping  5.09m to win the A string  and Cleo Tomlinson winning the B event with 4.89m. In the High Jump Izzy Humphries cleared 1.56m to take second place in the A string with Ella Hannyngton winning the B string with 1.53m. In the 75m Hurdles Ruby Jerges ran 12.1s to take second place in the A race, whilst Rania Hyde ran a massive personal best of 11.7s in the B race to also take second place. Hyde then took another second place in the Shot where she threw 9.75m, with Ruby Walker taking third place in the B string with 7.54m. Walker had earlier taken a second place in the 100m B race, running 13.5s, with Cleo Tomlinson taking second place in the A event in 13.1s.

The Under 15 Boys events saw a double win in the Long Jump , with Seb Wallace winning the A string with a leap of 5.81m and Tom Gilsenan-Best winning the B string with 5.53m. Wallace had earlier convincingly won the 80m Hurdles, running 11.8s, whilst Gilsenan-Best ran a personal best in the 100m running 11.9s to take third place. The 300m races saw Adam West and Dexter Browning both finish second, with West running 39.7s in the A race and Browning 42.8s in the B race. West later won the B string 200m in 24.8s, with Gilsenan-Best running 24.4s in the A race for third place. Another third place came in the 800m A string, where Ashley Williams ran 2m12.4s, whilst the 1500m saw Matty Smith and Rory Burke both finish 3rd running 4m52.5s and 4m57.8s respectively. In the Pole Vault a clearance of 3.00m saw Dan Dearden take second place.

In the Under 13 Girls an exciting 70m Hurdles, with the first three athletes all given the same time, saw Sophie Hogton ran 12.6s squeezed into second place. The same position as achieved by Macy Lawes in the B race, where she ran 13.5s. Emily Hutchinson cleared 1.40m to take second place in the High Jump. The Under 13 Boys High Jump saw Antoine Stehle win the A event with a clearance of 1.45m, with Edward Crossman winning the B event with a clearance of 1.40m. The 75m Hurdles races saw Antoine Stehle run 14.4s to finish fourth whilst Craig Harris ran 14.6s for second place in the B race.

The Relays concluded the meeting and there was an impressive win for the Under 15 Girls 4x100m team of Ruby Walker, Cleo Tomlinson, Jessica O’Flaherty and Ella Hannyngton, running 51.8s. The Under 13 Boys 4x100m team finished 3rd in 56.1s, whilst an exciting conclusion to the meeting was seen in the Under 15 Boys 4x300m where the team of Ashley Williams, Seb Wallace, Matty Smith and Adam West set a new Club record and just held off close rivals Crawley to win in 2m47.4s. This has been an impressive season for the team, having gained promotion last year, to establish themselves in this higher division.
