The Sussex Under 15 League Final took place at Withdean Stadium, Brighton and saw the Blue Star team finish in a creditable 4th place of the 10 competing Clubs scoring 322 points, behind winners Crawley (439 points), Chichester (367 points) and Brighton (356 points).
The outstanding Club performance came in the Boys 1500m where Ash Williams having tracked the early leaders found himself 10 metres down at the bell, but a storming final 250m saw him overtake the two leaders to win in a new personal best time of 4m23.8s. Tom Gilsenan-Best had a good evening, winning the Long Jump with a leap of 5.43m, where team mate Joe Fickling took second place in the B event with 4.33m. Gilsenan-Best then went on to take second spot in the 100m (12.2s) and third place in the 200m (24.8s), where Adam West ran 25.0s to win the B race. In the Pole Vault Dan Dearden cleared 2.70m to take second place.
The Girls events saw a double win in the Javelin, with Peanut Meekings throw 36.70m to win the A string and Jasmine Belshaw take the B event with 18.97m. Rania Hyde and Ella Hannyngton both take second places in the 75m Hurdle races, with them running 13.4s and 12.5s respectively. Hyde went to take another second place in the Shot event where she threw 8.97m. In the Long Jump Jess O’Flaherty took second place with a leap of 4.73m, with Issy Humphries winning the B event with 4.55m. The High Jump also provided good points, with Issy Humphreys clearing 1.50m to take second place in the A string and Ella Hannyngton winning the B string with a clearance of 1.45m.
