At the recent Sussex Under 13 league fixture held at Broadbridge Heath, the Blue Star team and the team from Crawley were involved in a terrific battle with the latter just edging the home club by 11 points, scoring 217 points to Blue Stars 206 points but well clear of the four other competing Clubs.
There was a double win in the Boys 75m with Dan Jackson running 10.6s to win the A race and Patrick Mair taking the B race in 11.3s. Jackson then went on to win the B race in the 150m running 21.8s, with team mate Edward Crossman taking second place in the A race in 21.1s. The Boys High Jump saw another double win with Antoine Stehle clearing 1.46m to win the A string and Edward Crossman winning the B string with 1.35m. The Shot event saw Craig Harris win the A string with a throw of 6.07m and Nicholas Land throw 4.66m to win the B event. The Discus saw Luca Yeates and Oscar Brooke-Webb team up, with the former winning the B string with 15.01m and the latter taking the B string with 14.95m. Tom Ralph threw 19.36m in the Javelin to take as econ dplace with Dylan Brogan winning the B string with a throw of 16.28m. Patrick Mair took second place in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.18m, with Luke Stables jumping 3.85m to take second place in the B string.
The Girls events saw a double win in the Javelin, with Emily Hutchinson throw 20.20m to win the A string and Hayley Emerson win the B string with 12.77m. The 70m Hurdles saw Sophie Hogton take a second place in the A race with 12.8s, and Macy Lawes run 12.7s to win the B race. Lawes also won the B High Jump with a leap of 1.20m, with Emily Hutchinson clearing 1.34m to take a second place in the A event. Sophie Hogton jumped 4.00m to win the Long Jump. In the 1000m race Emilia Burkinshaw was just edged out in the final sprint to the line to be pushed into second place, running 3m37.5s, with Jasmine Williams Richardson taking the B race in 3m42.3s.
The final 4 x100m relays saw the Boys team storm to victory in 57.2s, with the Girls team finishing third in 59.6s.
